The Washington Nations added some infield depth on deadline day by acquiring shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera from the Cleveland Indians for shortstop Zach Walters, according to multiple reports.

The Nationals may use Cabrera at second base as well. Washington needed some help in the infield with third baseman Ryan Zimmerman sidelined with a hamstring injury.

The 28-year-old is hitting .246 with nine homers and 40 runs batted in over 97 games played this season with the Indians.

Cabrera, a two-time All-Star, is a free-agent at season's end.

Walters, 24, has appeared in 32 games for the Nationals this season.
