Thursday night's contest against the Baltimore Orioles was a brief one for Melky Cabrera.

Orioles starter Miguel Gonzalez hit Cabrera in the elbow with a pitch in the first inning. He would take his base and finish the inning.

Cabrera, who was the Jays' designated hitter on Thursday, was replaced by Nolan Reimold in his next at-bat in the third inning.

The team announced that Cabrera had x-rays done on his elbow during the game and that they come back negative.

He has been listed as day-to-day.

The 29-year-old Cabrera leads the Jays and entered Thursday second in the American League with 147 hits through 114 games.
