ST. LOUIS -- The Boston Red Sox have scratched David Ortiz from the lineup against the St. Louis Cardinals because of concerns about wet grounds after daylong rains.

Mike Napoli replaced Ortiz at first base and batted fourth Thursday night. Yoenis Cespedes moved up one slot from cleanup to third, where Ortiz had been.

The team said the 38-year-old Ortiz was available off the bench.
