Toronto Blue Jays infielder Edwin Encarnacion is scheduled to join the Triple 'A' Buffalo Bisons on Tuesday to begin his rehab stint.
Encarnacion has been on the disabled list since suffering a strained right quadriceps on July 7. He began his rehab on Saturday for Single-A Dunedin and went 1-3.
In 88 games, with the Blue Jays this season, Encarnacion has hit .277 with 21 doubles, 26 home runs and 70 RBI. His home run total is tied for 4th most in the American League even though he hasn't played since July 5. He homered 16 times in 30 games in May, setting the Blue Jays franchise record for home runs in any month.
He has 221 career big league home runs with 42 homers coming for Toronto in 2012.
