It appears that Edwin Encarnacion will be rejoining the Toronto Blue Jays in time for their weekend series in Chicago against the White Sox.

The Buffalo News reported that Encarnacion has left the Bisons to rejoin the major league squad. He played two games with triple-A Buffalo during a rehab stint and hit a grand slam on Tuesday night.

Encarnacion has missed the past five weeks with a quadriceps strain suffered in Oakland and will join a Toronto team that is quickly falling out of the playoff race.

The 31-year-old has 26 homers - good enough for fifth most in the league - and 70 RBIs this season over 88 games.

The Blue Jays were swept in a three-game set against the Seattle Mariners and sit 7.5 games behind the Baltimore Orioles for first in the AL East and three games behind Seattle and Detroit for the second Wild Card spot.
