CHICAGO - San Francisco catcher Buster Posey was out of the lineup Wednesday night for the Giants' game against the Cubs with soreness in his left hip.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy likened it to an unscheduled day off and expected Posey to be back behind the plate Thursday.

Bochy said Posey tweaked it Tuesday and decided to give him the day off for treatment to try to avoid any lingering issues.

Posey is batting .278 with 13 home runs. He was replaced in the lineup by Andrew Susac.
