Blue Jays recall Jenkins; designate Santos for assignment

The Toronto Blue Jays have recalled right-handed pitcher Chad Jenkins from Buffalo Bisons of the International League and have designated fellow right-hander Sergio Santos for assignment.

Jenkins, 26, has split the 2014 season between Toronto and Buffalo where in 21 games this year has earned a 1-3 record with two saves and a 4.70 ERA.

In 21 relief appearances for the Blue Jays this season the 6'4'', 235lb pitcher has posted a 1-1 record with a 2.56 ERA. He pitched 31.2 innings only allowing 34 hits, 10 runs and 2 home runs while walking 6 and striking out 18.

This is Jenkin's eleventh time moving between the Bisons and the Jays this year.

Santos, 31, has appeared in 26 games this season for Toronto posting a 0-3 record with five saves and an 8.57 ERA.

Santos was purchased from the minors on August 24th after being outrighted to the minors on July 23rd, 2014.
