Blue Jays claim C Wilson off waivers from Angels

The Toronto Blue Jays claimed catcher Bobby Wilson off waivers from the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Monday.

Wilson appeared in 75 games for the Angels last season, batting .211 with five doubles, three home runs and 13 RBI. The 29-year-old right-handed hitter posted a .277 on-base percentage and threw out 25% (15-60) of would be base stealers. 

In parts of five Major League seasons the Dunedin, Florida native has batted .208 in 191 games with a .272 on-base percentage.

To make room on the 40-man roster righthanded pitcher Chad Beck was designated for assignment.
