The Boston Red Sox have reportedly jumped back into the free agent market, agreeing with pitcher Ryan Dempster on a two-year, $26.5 million contract, according to FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal.

After bolstering their offence with the signing of outfielders Shane Victorino and Johnny Gomes and the agreement on a contract with catcher Mike Napoli, the Red Sox have apparently now moved to bolster their starting rotation.

The 35-year-old native of Gibsons, BC was acquired by the Texas Rangers in a mid-season trade with the Chicago Cubs.

In 28 starts last season, he posted a 12-8 record with a 3.38 ERA.

Dempster had spent his whole career in the National League up until the trade to the Rangers. He struggled in his short time in Texas, recording a 5.05 ERA in 12 starts.
