Blue Jays sign righthander Ortiz and outfielder Langerhans

The Toronto Blue Jays signed righthander Ramon Ortiz and outfielder Ryan Langerhans to minor league contracts for 2013 on Tuesday with invites to attend Major League spring training.

Ortiz spent the 2012 season with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre of the International League (AAA) in the New York Yankees organization. The 39-year-old right-hander posted a 13-6 record with a 3.45 ERA in 27 starts. In 11 Major League seasons with Anaheim, Cincinnati, Washington, Minnesota, Colorado, Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago Cubs, he has recorded an 86-84 record with a 4.93 ERA in 296 games (214 starts).

Langerhans spent most of 2012 with Salt Lake of the Pacific Coast League (AAA) in the Angels organization, posting a .250 average with 11 home runs and 54 RBI. The 32-year-old left-handed hitter has appeared in 593 Major League games for Atlanta, Oakland, Washington, Seattle and the Los Angeles Angels, batting .226 with 33 home runs and 125 RBI.
