TORONTO -- Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Alan Farina has been suspended 50 games following the right-hander's second positive test under baseball's minor league drug program.

The commissioner's office said Wednesday that the suspension will be effective at the start of this season.

Farina is currently on the roster of Single-A Dunedin Blue Jays of the Florida State League. He went 1-2 with a 5.18 ERA over 24.1 innings pitched in 2012.

The 26-year-old from Winter Park, Fla., was drafted by Toronto in the third round (115th overall) of the 2007 draft.
