Jose Bautista's twisted ankle kept him out of the Blue Jays' lineup for a second consecutive game.

The decision was made late Saturday morning after Bautista took batting practice and tested his ankle with a series of running drills.

Bautista, 32, was injured in the eighth inning of Thursday's win over Cleveland. He beat out a fielder's choice ground ball but landed awkwardly on first base. He remained in the game to run the bases but didn't take his spot in right field in the ninth.

On Friday, Bautista said the injury wasn't serious and said that he would be playing if the Blue Jays were in a pennant race or in the playoffs.

Bautista remains day-to-day.

Meantime, the Blue Jays made their first roster move of the season.

Dave Bush, 33, has been recalled from Triple-A Buffalo and will be in uniform on Saturday. The right-hander began his career with the Blue Jays, pitching in Toronto for two seasons (2004-2005.)

To make room for Bush, the Blue Jays have designated reliever Jeremy Jeffress for assignment.

Jeffress, 25, made the team at the end of spring training when the club broke camp with an eight-man bullpen. He made one appearance, Friday against Boston, allowing one run on one hit and walking two in one inning.
