The Toronto Blue Jays claimed pitcher Edgar Gonzalez on waivers from the Houston Astros on Sunday.
The 30-year-old Gonzalez was designated for assignment on April 5 after not appearing for the Astros this season. In 2012, right-hander was 3-1 in six starts for the Astros with a 5.04 ERA.
The native of Nuevo Leon, Mexico has a career Major League record of 17-26 with a 5.84 ERA in 113 games with 47 starts. This spring he appeared in five games posting a 3.46 ERA.
To make room on the 40-man roster, the Blue Jays transferred RHP Dustin McGowan to the 60-day disabled list.
