TORONTO -- The Toronto Blue Jays claimed pitcher Aaron Laffey off waivers from the New York Mets on Tuesday.

The 28-year-old left-hander made four appearances, including two starts, for the Mets this season. He did not record a decision and has a 7.20 earned-run average.

Laffey made 16 starts for the Blue Jays last season. He went 4-6 with a 4.56 ERA in 22 games.

Laffey has a career record of 25-29 with a 4.44 ERA over 152 appearances. He has also played for the Cleveland Indians, Seattle Mariners and New York Yankees.

To make room on the 40-man roster, the Blue Jays transferred shortstop Jose Reyes to the 60-day disabled list.
