TAMPA, Fla. -- New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter has slightly increased his baseball activities by fielding grounders hit directly at him.
Jeter and injured teammate Eduardo Nunez took grounders on the outfield grass Monday at the Yankees' minor league complex. Jeter also continued playing catch.
The 13-time All-Star hasn't played this season after breaking his left ankle in the playoffs last year and having surgery. Jeter sustained another fracture during his rehabilitation, and isn't expected back until after the All-Star break in mid-July.
Nunez, who had been filling in at shortstop for the injured Jeter, is out with a strained muscle on his left side.
Outfielder Curtis Granderson, sidelined by a broken left hand, threw, but did not catch. He also ran in the outfield.
