The Toronto Blue Jays have placed outfielder Melky Cabrera on revocable waivers, according to Nick Cafardo of The Boston Globe.

Once Cabrera clears waivers, he is eligible to be traded in August.

Cabrera was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Thursday night after the club's 8-2 loss to the Los Angeles Angels.

Blue Jays GM Alex Anthopoulos told ESPN Radio on Friday that Cabrera has a meniscus tear in his left knee and has battled hamstring and knee injuries all year.

In 88 games this season, Cabrera has a slash line of .279/.322/.360 with three home runs.
