It appears the recent string of injuries to hit the octagon are continuing.

According to Yahoo! Sports, Gabriel Gonzaga has been removed from his UFC 108 bout due to a staph infection.

The 30-year-old fighter was supposed to face Junior Dos Santos on the January 2 fight card in Las Vegas. Now UFC President Dana White will be in the hunt for a replacement, which could come in the form of Cain Velasquez.

Velasquez was expected to take on Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, but "Big Nog" was also forced to withdraw due to a staph infection.

Gonzaga was coming off a first-round knockout win at UFC 102 over Chris Tuchscherer, while Dos Santos' star seems to be on the rise after wins over Fabricio Werdum, Stefan Struve, and most recently Mirko Cro Cop.
