The UFC's upcoming event in Rio de Janeiro took a significant hit on Tuesday as featherweight champion Jose Aldo and former light heavyweight champion Quinton (Rampage) Jackson were forced off the card due to injuries.
Aldo was slated to meet Frankie Edgar in the main event, while Rampage was set to fight in the co-main event with Glover Teixeira.
With less than five weeks left before the October 13 event, the UFC hasn't announced whether Edgar will face a replacement or be removed from the event to wait for the title shot against Aldo.
While a replacement for Rampage seems likely, it's also possible that Teixeira is pulled from the fight card.
This is another tough situation for the UFC, after they were forced to cancel UFC 151 last month because number one contender Dan Henderson suffered an injury.
