This Saturday, UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre will make his long awaited return inside the octagon when he faces interim champion Carlos Condit in a unification bout.

The 31-year-old champion has not fought in a match since his unanimous decision victory over Jake Shields in April of last year.  He suffered a torn ACL in December of 2011, while preparing to defend his title against Nick Diaz.

Despite the long layoff, UFC lead commentator Mike Goldberg, who was a guest on Off The Record with Michael Landsberg on Tuesday, believes that St-Pierre could elevate his game higher than it was before his injury.
"I think he might even be better," said Goldberg. "He might have been able to take all of this pressure off himself mentally during the time away.  Get away from the different types of training and improve himself as an athlete.  Georges "Rush" St-Pierre is one of the greatest fighters in the history of the sport."

If St-Pierre is successful in defending his title, many are calling for him to move on to a super fight with middleweight champion Anderson Silva.  However, Goldberg would rather see Silva battle the light-heavyweight champion instead.

"The ultimate fight for me is Jon Jones and Anderson Silva," said Goldberg.  "I just think physically they match up a little differently than Georges."
