Two games into their current three game road trip, the Montreal Canadiens have two losses, and have now dropped five of their last six.
Wednesday's loss to Anaheim was troublesome, especially the third period when it took Montreal 15 minutes to get their first shot on net on their way to only taking three shots in the entire period.
Thursday's effort was better that Montreal showed that they came to play. They led the hockey game on three different occasions but couldn't seal the deal, losing 4-3 in a six-round shootout.
There were a lot of positives in the loss, the biggest being the play of David Desharnais. The small centre played big and had a three point night. In fact, every member of the line of Desharnais, Erik Cole and Mike Cammalleri, scored a goal.
Going into Saturday's game against the Kings, the talk revolves around defenceman Andrei Markov's return. The club was hoping to see No. 79 return to action during their road trip, but he did not accompany his teammates to Los Angeles. Instead, he stayed behind in Anaheim and had his knee checked out.
After meeting with the doctor, Markov has been ruled out of Saturday's game and needs more time before returning.
The Kings, are coming off of two straight wins, a shutout of San Jose 2-0, and a 2-1 win over Florida on Thursday.
As always, you can hear the game on TSN 990, but note the start time, 3:30pm et.
