The Montreal Canadiens are coming off of two straight losses as they visit the Sabres in Buffalo tonight.
The Habs are still in the basement of the Eastern Conference, pinned down to the 15th spot. The Habs haven't been as bad as their record lately, however. They have found a way to pick up some points in the standings, somehow mustering up nine points in their last six games and have been playing a better, more exciting brand of hockey.
It was only nine days ago that the Habs last faced the Sabres in Buffalo. It was a game that saw Scott Gomez get hit from behind by Tyler Myers. Later in the game, Myers put the Habs away with an overtime winner. The Sabres defenceman was consequently suspended three games for his hit from behind.
As for Gomez, he is still out with post-concussion symptoms. Will the Canadiens try to avenge the hit? Habs head coach Randy Cunneyworth would much rather see his team battle and try to win the game.
The Habs will ice the same lineup as last game with the only difference being Carey Price back between the pipes.
His counterpart will be Ryan Miller. The Sabres goalie has been instrumental in getting his team back into playoff contention. Buffalo sits ninth in the East, just two points behind eighth place Washington. This is a huge game for Buffalo as they hope to remain in the hunt.
The Habs, on the other hand, will just try to play spoiler.
