Andrei Markov is the latest Russian player to head to the KHL, as several reports indicate that the Montreal Canadiens defenceman has signed a lockout contract with Vityaz Chekhov.

Markov, 33, missed 133 regular season games and all of the 2011 playoffs over the last two seasons with injuries to his right knee. He played 13 games last season, tallying three assists.

The Canadiens signed Markov to a three-year $17.25 million contract two summers ago.

The six-foot, 209-pound defenceman has registered 369 points (81 goals, 288 assists) in 636 regular season games. He also has 18 points (three goals, 15 assists) in 49 career playoff games.
