Each week, The CFL on TSN panel will break down three hot button topics from around the Canadian Football League. This week they discussed the punishment for Brandon Isaac, the eventual expansion draft, and Kevin Glenn's time remaining as the Stampeders' starter.

First Down: What should the league have done to Brandon Isaac for his hit on Buck Pierce?

Chris Schultz: The fine is enough. The way the football helmet fits on the human head your throat and your chin are always exposed, especially if your head is tilted back. He hit it in the chest and rode up. I think the fine is enough.

Matt Dunigan: I'm fine with the fine too. I talked to Isaac at practice earlier this week and he went through the whole process with me. This is a clean player and a player that openly admits that he will aim lower next time, but I think the fine sends the message.

Jock Climie: Let's make this unanimous - I think the fine was the way to go. He injured a quarterback and a quarterback this league needs. They have to be protected, so something had to be done because his helmet made contact, but there was no evil intend as Schultz likes to call it sometimes and for that reason no suspension.

Second Down: In the upcoming expansion draft, teams can protect one quarterback. If you're Ottawa what quarterback would you go after, Adrian McPherson (Alouettes), Drew Willy (Roughriders), Matt Nichols (Eskimos), or would you like to call an audible?

Climie: I am going with McPherson. I'm so excited that the Ottawa franchise is going to have an opportunity to take a number two quarterback and not a number three. I think McPherson has been waiting long enough. He has to have learned a whole lot from being Anthony Calvillo's backup for all these years. McPherson with his athleticism and his experience would be a great fit in Ottawa.

Schultz: I'm going to call an audible and say Mike Reilly from the B.C. Lions. It's his third year in the league, he has a great mentor in Travis Lulay and comes from a winning program, which I think is key.

Dunigan: I'm going to go with a proven veteran quarterback and call an audible to pick Kevin Glenn. That's right, Kevin Glenn. I know what it's like to try to start a franchise and try to win football games with a young quarterback who is just learning the game. This team needs to come out of the gate fast and you do that with an experienced quarterback and that's what Glenn will give you.

Third Down: With Drew Tate back on the sidelines, close to returning to action, how long is the leash on Glenn from this point forward?

Dunigan: It's a short leash. You're going to say that I'm contradicting myself, but I'm not. This is not Glenn's football team, it's Tate's team. When Tate is ready, he will take over this team. Glenn has done his job as a backup and held the fort down since he's been in there, going 7-5.

Climie: I have to disagree. I think he deserves a long leash. I understand he wasn't a starter at the beginning of the year, but this is his football team and his offence. He has a 96 passing efficiency and has done so well for this football team. He actually deserves the opportunity to stay in there with a long leash.

Schultz: I'm going to say short leash. It's not even a dog leash, it's more of a cat leash.
