The National Hockey League Players' Association has reached out to the NHL to discuss the recent developments over Scott Gomez and Wade Redden.

Both players have been sent home with pay by the Montreal Canadiens and New York Rangers respectively so they can be bought out at the end of the season using the CBA's compliance buyout, which would not count against the salary cap.

TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun of ESPN.com reported on Monday night that while the teams are doing nothing wrong - as both players are getting paid to not play - the NHLPA is concerned that both players will be unable to play this year, which will hurt their chances of employment in the future.

Gomez has two years left on his contract with a $7.35 million cap hit, while Redden also has two years remaining with a 6.5 million cap hit.
