The Montreal Canadiens have lost forward Max Pacioretty for the next three-to-four weeks.

The club announced on Saturday that the 24-year-old underwent an emergency appendectomy in Montreal.

In three games this season, Pacioretty has four assists.

Last season, he scored 33 goals and recorded 32 assists in 79 games played.

Lars Eller will replace Pacioretty on the Habs' top line with David Desharnais and Erik Cole against the New Jersey Devils on Sunday.
