The world’s largest fighting game tournament is getting a little bit bigger.

Co-creator of the Mortal Kombat series Ed Boon announced a $50,000 pot bonus for the upcoming Mortal Kombat XL tournament at Evo 2016, provided by game publisher and developer Warner Bros. Games and NetherRealm Studios.

The winner of the tournament will be in line to collect $30,000 from the bonus should the prizes be split the same as they were in 2015.

For his efforts in 2015, champion Dominique “SonicFox” McLean collected almost $37,000 for his triumph. He has won the four largest top prizes in the game’s history and three ESL Pro League finals.

Entrants will split the base prize pool on an escalating basis based on performance. The winners receive 60 per cent, second place will earn 20 per cent, third place will get 10 per cent, and the remaining 10 per cent is dividing among the fourth- to eighth-place finishes.

Pot bonuses can be divided differently, however the 2016 split has yet to be announced.
