Atlanta Hawks

Team Page | Roster | Stats

Regular Season Record: 47-35
Head-to-Head Record: 3-1
Last NBA Championship: 1958 (as St. Louis Hawks)
Last NBA Finals Appearance: 1961 (as St. Louis Hawks)
Last Postseason Appearance: 2008

A reason to cheer for the Hawks: Just four seasons ago, in 2004-05, the Hawks were the worst team in the NBA, compiling a dreadful 13 wins during that campaign. By 2007, Atlanta became the squad that had gone the most seasons in a row without making the playoffs (eight). They had also lost 50-plus games in four consecutive years and hadn't won an NBA title since 1958, when they were the St. Louis Hawks. The Hawks haven't made it beyond the second round of the playoffs in their time in Atlanta - that's since 1968! This could be the year that changes.

Players to Watch: Joe Johnson, Josh Smith, Mike Bibby, Marvin Williams, Al Horford

Miami Heat

Team Page | Roster | Stats

Regular Season Record: 43-39
Head-to-Head Record: 1-3
Last NBA Championship: 2006
Last NBA Finals Appearance: 2006
Last Postseason Appearance: 2007

A reason to cheer for the Heat: The Heat have won their division seven times, made the playoffs on 12 occasions, and won the 2006 NBA Finals - all this since joining the league in 1988. In 2007-08, just two years after winning the championship, the Heat went 15-67 in an awful campaign, but have turned it around this year to put a solid team on the court. Root for Miami if you want to see a team return to former glory after a brief dip into the basement.

Players to Watch: Dwyane Wade, Michael Beasley, Jermaine O'Neal, Udonis Haslem, Mario Chalmers
