Regular Season Record: 65-17 Head-to-Head Record: 4-0 Last NBA Championship: 2002 Last NBA Finals Appearance: 2008 Last Postseason Appearance: 2008
How They Got Here: The Los Angeles Lakers finished off the Utah Jazz in five games of the first round, but they didn't display the kind of dominance you might expect. Twenty-two was the point differential between the two teams in the series, with Game Four being the biggest separation - a 14 point win by LA.
A Reason To Cheer For The Lakers: The Lakers swept all four games from the Rockets this season and are 5-2 against them in the last two seasons. In the four victories, Bryant averaged 28.3 points on 53 percent shooting. Bryant has had some outstanding performances this season, including a 61-point effort at MSG against the Knicks. He is arguably the best player in the league and has the power to take control of a game and change its outcome almost single-handedly. With three NBA championships to his name, Bryant knows how to tough it out in the post-season and his experience and maturity should be helpful in the locker room. He's on the record as saying he wants to win this thing really badly this year. There's no reason to doubt that.
Players to Watch: Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, Andrew Bynum, Lamar Odom, Derek Fisher |
