Auburn Hills, MI (Sports Network) - Detroit Pistons guard Allen Iverson will miss the next two weeks of action after doctors at Georgetown University recommended he rest his ailing back.

Iverson's condition was evaluated at Georgetown on Wednesday, and he has been instructed to suspend all basketball related activities for two weeks.

Iverson will not travel with the team to prevent stress on his back and will be reevaluated by the doctors at Georgetown following the conclusion of the two-week period.

Iverson is expected to begin treatment upon his return to Detroit on Thursday.

The perennial All-Star missed his third straight game on Tuesday against the Nuggets and has struggled this season after being dealt from Denver three games into the season in a blockbuster deal that sent Chauncey Billups to the Nuggets.

In 51 games for Detroit, Iverson is averaging a career-low 18.0 points while logging a career-low 37.7 minutes. His current 5.1 assists per game are his lowest output since the 2000-01 season, his fifth in the league while in Philadelphia.

The 2001 NBA MVP is in his 13th season out of Georgetown and boasts a career scoring average of 27.1 points.

Detroit, currently the sixth seed in the East, has won three in a row without Iverson since a season-high eight-game losing streak.
