Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - Toronto Raptors rookie forward Ed Davis underwent knee surgery on Monday.
It was an arthroscopic procedure to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee, performed by Raptors team medical director Dr. Paul Marks at a Toronto-area hospital. Davis suffered the injury last Wednesday while playing basketball. He is expected to return to basketball activities within six weeks.
Davis, the 13th overall selection, suffered a broken wrist during his second season at North Carolina last February. In 23 games before the injury, he averaged 13.4 points and 9.6 rebounds in a disappointing campaign for the Tar Heels, who won the NCAA title the year before.
The 6-foot-10, 225-pound forward totaled 129 blocks over his 61-game collegiate career.
