LAS VEGAS -- Marcus Thornton scored 19 points, while DeMarcus Cousins had 18 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Sacramento Kings over the winless Los Angeles Lakers, 103-98 Friday night.

Kobe Bryant finished with 22 points and six rebounds in 28 minutes for the Lakers (0-5), while Pau Gasol had 20 points and six rebounds in 31 minutes for the Kings (3-1), who only trailed once.

Steve Nash added eight points and six assists in 28 minutes for the Lakers. All three did not play in the fourth quarter.

The Lakers' Dwight Howard will try to play Sunday night against Sacramento in Los Angeles. It will be determined by the Lakers medical staff. Howard, who had back surgery last April, made the trip to Las Vegas.

Tyreke Evans and Jimmer Fredette each had 14 points off the bench for the Kings, who never led by more than eight points.

Devin Ebanks came off the bench with 20 points for Los Angeles, which played its annual preseason game at the Thomas & Mack Center. Ebanks was 4 of 5 from 3-point range.

The Kings were 22 of 27 (82 per cent) from the free throw line and had a 28-10 advantage in fast-break points.

Bryant finished 7 of 12 from the field and 8 of 11 from the free throw line.

James Johnson had 12 for the Kings, while Isaiah Thomas had eight points and 10 rebounds.
