Bulls exercise option on former first-rounder Butler

CHICAGO -- The Chicago Bulls have exercised their third-year option on former first-round draft pick Jimmy Butler for the 2013-14 season.

The 6-foot-7 Butler appeared in 42 games as a rookie last season and averaged 2.6 points and 1.3 rebounds in a limited role. He was taken with the 30th pick in the 2011 draft.

The Bulls announced the move on Tuesday.
