Lawrence, KS (Sports Network) - Marcus Morris finished with 19 points and 11 rebounds, as top-ranked Kansas routed Oakland, 89-59, at Allen Fieldhouse.

Xavier Henry also netted 19 points, while Tyrel Reed went for 11 off the bench for Kansas (4-0), which extended the nation's longest active homecourt win streak to 44 games. Sherron Collins donated nine points and seven assists.

"I thought we played really well," Kansas head coach Bill Self said. "It was a non-emotional, slow-paced game and I'm shocked we were able to score 89 points. We executed really well in the first half."

Keith Benson registered a game-high 20 points to go along with six rebounds and four blocks, while Derick Nelson went for 19 points for Oakland (2-3), which had won two straight coming into the contest.

"We had a freshman make a big mistake," Oakland head coach Greg Kampe said. " We were controlling the tempo and keeping it slow. We felt that if we could rebound and not give up transition baskets that we could play with them. That was happening and we weren't even making shots.

Kansas jumped out to a quick 19-9 lead at the midway point of the first half following a Morris jumper, but Larry Wright's three-pointer was on the mark and Oakland was able to briefly cut its deficit to seven shortly after.

The Jayhawks then went on a 14-5 run for a 35-19 game after Collins hit from beyond the arc with nearly 3 1/2 minutes remaining. The visitors would take a 37-22 advantage into the intermission.

Things wouldn't get any better for Oakland in the second half as Tyshawn Taylor's layup spurred the Jayhawks on another 14-5 run in the early going to help build a 51-30 cushion just over six minutes in. Kansas held a double- digit lead throughout the remaining time on the clock en route to the easy victory.

Game Notes: This was the first-ever meeting between Oakland and Kansas on the hardwood...Taylor ended with six points for Kansas...Wright had six points and six rebounds for the Golden Grizzlies.
