Irving, TX (Sports Network) - Alabama stayed perched atop the BCS standings, while Florida fell from the coveted No. 2 spot after suffering its first loss of the season on Saturday.

Kansas State, the nation's No. 1 team according to the computer composites, was the beneficiary of Florida's setback against Georgia, as the Wildcats pulled behind the Crimson Tide in the poll's latest release.

Notre Dame jumped in front of Oregon by one one-thousandth of a percentage to take over the third position after a convincing win over nationally-ranked Oklahoma. Oregon, despite being ranked No. 2 in both the Harris Interactive and USA Today polls, is fourth.

The top four teams are all 8-0 and do not play each other the rest of the way.

Alabama, the unanimous top seed in both human polls used in the BCS formula, has the stiffest test this weekend with a visit to LSU, which at No. 5 is the BCS's highest one-loss team. The game is a rematch of last season's winner- take-all finale -- a 21-0 Alabama victory.

Georgia advanced four spots to No. 6 and controls its destiny in the SEC, though the Bulldogs would seemingly need help in order to supersede the current unbeatens.

Florida, South Carolina, Florida State and undefeated Louisville round out the BCS's top 10.

The BCS poll is computed by averaging the percentage totals of the Harris Interactive poll, USA Today poll and computer rankings.

Since 1998, the top two teams in the poll following the conference title games squared off for the BCS Championship. In two years, a four-team playoff system goes into effect.
