Here's what you need to know for Friday, May 6, the top stories from around the sports world.

The Equalizer:  Kyle Lowry bounced back into form to lift the Toronto Raptors to a 96-92 overtime victory over the Miami Heat on Thursday, evening their second-round playoff series at one win apiece. Lowry had 18 points, including two clutch baskets in the final minute of regulation. The series now moves to Miami for Game 3 on Saturday.

Double Overtime:  Cody Eakin scored at 2:58 of overtime and the Dallas Stars beat the St. Louis Blues 3-2 last night, bouncing back from a blowout loss two days earlier to tie the second-round series at two games apiece. In Nashville, Mike Fisher scored at 11:12 of the third overtime, and the Predators beat the San Jose Sharks 4-3 in the longest game in franchise history.

Breaking Out:  Edwin Encarnacion hit a bases-clearing double in Toronto's five-run first inning and later added a three-run homer as the Blue Jays crushed the Texas Rangers 12-2 last night. The Jays completed a 3-1 series win over Texas and moved back to .500 with a record of 15-15. Toronto opens an inter-league series with the Los Angeles Dodgers tonight as Marcus Stroman faces Kenta Maeda.

Border Battle:  Connor McDavid and Auston Matthews will line up on opposite sides this morning as Canada faces the United States to open the World Hockey Championship. As Ryan Rishaug explains, all eyes, especially those in Leafs nation, will be on Matthews. You can watch the opener on TSN1, TSN3 and TSN4 beginning at 9am et/6am pt.
