TSN Digital 2014 NFL Mock Draft 3.0

1. Houston Texans

Jadeveon Clowney

Jadeveon Clowney - DE - South Carolina

Height: 6'5 | Weight: 266 | Status: Junior

It sounds like there is some debate within the Texans' war room focusing on Clowney or fellow pass-rusher Khalil Mack. Clowney, the better prospect despite some red flags, should win that debate.

2. St. Louis Rams (via Washington Redskins)

Greg Robinson

Greg Robinson - OT - Auburn

Height: 6'5 | Weight: 332 | Status: Redshirt Sophomore

Depending who your favourite insider is, Johnny Manziel is either a legitimate option at No. 2, or the speculation is a smokescreen, perhaps to facilitate a trade down. I'm not totally buying it, and I'll stick with a safer pick in Greg Robinson. Sammy Watkins could be taken here as well.

3. Jacksonville Jaguars

Khalil Mack

Khalil Mack - OLB - Buffalo

Height: 6'3 | Weight: 251 | Status: Redshirt Senior

The Jaguars, always needing to make a splash for their fan base, could do so by taking Manziel – or to a lesser extent Watkins. But there's solid speculation Gus Bradley and the coaching staff want Mack, and I think they'll get him.

4. Cleveland Browns

Sammy Watkins

Sammy Watkins - WR - Clemson

Height: 6'1 | Weight: 211 | Status: Junior

The Browns have a number of options here: Manziel, Watkins, an offensive tackle, or blowing it. I had Cleveland grabbing Manziel here until the very connected Jay Glazer reported it wasn't going to happen. With Josh Gordon, as good as he is, one violation away from losing a year, Watkins would make a lot of sense.

5. Oakland Raiders

Taylor Lewan

Taylor Lewan - OT - Michigan

Height: 6'7 | Weight: 309 | Status: Redshirt Senior

With their top targets already taken, the Raiders settle for a fairly decent consolation prize in Taylor Lewan, who they reportedly have as their highest rated left tackle prospect.

6. Atlanta Falcons

Jake Matthews

Jake Matthews - OT - Texas A&M

Height: 6'6 | Weight: 308 | Status: Senior

The Falcons could very well trade up – there's a lot of speculation they could jump to No. 2 where they'd likely grab Mack – but if they stay put it's more likely they'll grab an offensive tackle.

7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Johnny Manziel

Johnny Manziel - QB - Texas A&M

Height: 6'0 | Weight: 207 | Status: Redshirt Sophomore

The new regime in Tampa Bay appears ready to move on from Mike Glennon at QB and with Manziel still on the board, they could certainly pounce.

8. Minnesota Vikings

Aaron Donald

Aaron Donald - DT - Pittsburgh

Height: 6'1 | Weight: 285 | Status: Senior

Minnesota needs a quarterback but there's a lot of speculation they'll wait for the second round (and a little speculation they'll trade for Sam Bradford of the Rams.) New coach Mike Zimmer wants some front seven help on defence. Combine that with the scorching rise up the draft boards of DT Aaron Donald, and this pick seems to make a semblance of sense.

9. Buffalo Bills

Mike Evans

Mike Evans - WR - Texas A&M

Height: 6'5 | Weight: 231 | Status: Redshirt Sophomore

With none of the top left tackles still available, the Bills could look to find E.J. Manuel help in other ways and Mike Evans would be a good addition to their receiving corps.

10. Detroit Lions

Ha Ha Clinton-Dix

Ha Ha Clinton-Dix - S - Alabama

Height: 6'1 | Weight: 208 | Status: Junior

I think the Lions will address their secondary with this pick but there are no half-points given for position. I'll give the Lions S Ha-Ha Clinton-Dix, whose draft stock appears to be on the rise after earlier falling; he's as good as anyone I suppose.

11. Tennessee Titans

Blake Bortles

Blake Bortles - QB - UCF

Height: 6'5 | Weight: 232 | Status: Redshirt Junior

The Titans biggest need appears to be cornerback and Justin Gilbert would make sense here. But what fun are mock drafts without going with your hunches so I'll take Tennessee filling their second biggest need and taking Blake Bortles.

12. New York Giants

Zack Martin

Zack Martin - OT - Notre Dame

Height: 6'4 | Weight: 308 | Status: Redshirt Senior

Eli Manning will be coming back from an ankle injury and it's no secret the Giants need to protect him better. Respected draft guru Mike Mayock placed Zack Martin's draft range from 9-13. This pick falls in nicely with that.

13. St. Louis Rams

Odell Beckham Jr

Odell Beckham Jr - WR - LSU

Height: 5'11 | Weight: 198 | Status: Junior

If the Rams don't trade the No. 2 pick, this one could certainly be in play. But if they hold on to both, and select an offensive lineman second overall, there's a decent chance they'll be looking at receivers here. I'll slide Odell Beckham, another player racing up the draft boards, into the No. 13 spot and on the Rams.

14. Chicago Bears

Calvin Pryor

Calvin Pryor - S - Louisville

Height: 5'11 | Weight: 207 | Status: Junior

It seems likely the Bears are going defence if they keep their first round pick, but after that it's very much up in the air. They could go defensive line, and get the big run-stuffer Louis Nix III, but with multiple needs in the secondary I think they'll focus their attention there and grab Calvin Pryor.

15. Pittsburgh Steelers

Justin Gilbert

Justin Gilbert - CB - Oklahoma State

Height: 6'0 | Weight: 202 | Status: Senior

Justin Gilbert's slide falls here, picked up by a team that is in need of a cornerback. The Steelers taking a cornerback has been the speculation all off-season and with their choice of the best, they make it happen.

16. Dallas Cowboys

Jonathan Cooper

Anthony Barr - OLB - UCLA

Height: 6'5 | Weight: 255 | Status: Senior

It will be curious to see how far Anthony Barr drops after at one point being considered one of the top prospects for the draft. The pass rusher is a one-trick pony, but it's a trick highly coveted by the Cowboys.

17. Baltimore Ravens

Eric Ebron

Eric Ebron - TE - North Carolina

Height: 6'4 | Weight: 250 | Status: Junior

It's unlikely Eric Ebron will fall this far in the draft but I couldn't seem to find a home for him in the previous 7-8 picks. If the TE is still on the board at No. 17, the Ravens, reported to highly covet him, likely won't waste any time making such a high value pick.

18. New York Jets

Kyle Fuller

Kyle Fuller - CB - Virginia Tech

Height: 6'0 | Weight: 190 | Status: Senior

The Jets could easily grab a receiver here – with Marqise Lee and Brandin Cooks the best available – but they need a cornerback too and Kyle Fuller provides better value at this point. Darqueze Dennard is another CB option but Fuller appears to have jumped ahead of him in the position rankings of late.

19. Miami Dolphins

Xavier Su'a-Filo

Xavier Su'a-Filo - OG - UCLA

Height: 6'4 | Weight: 307 | Status: Redshirt Junior

This is probably too high for Su'a-Filo but with Cyrus Kouandjio's health concerns, the interior lineman may be higher on draft board for the Dolphins, who desperately need linemen.

20. Arizona Cardinals

Dee Ford

Dee Ford - DE - Auburn

Height: 6'2 | Weight: 252 | Status: Redshirt Senior

This is the starting point where second-tier QBs will be considered, but the Cardinals aren't a good enough team to ignore current needs. If the team is willing to give up on Michael Floyd as a viable starter they may choose a receiver here, but a pass rusher like Dee Ford would make sense too.

21. Green Bay Packers

Ryan Shazier

Ryan Shazier - OLB/S - Ohio State

Height: 6'1 | Weight: 237 | Status: Junior

Ryan Shazier will be a hot commodity around this time in the first round and I bet the Packers, who need a safety, love his tough profile. If Green Bay thinks Shazier can convert positions, this pick could make some sense.

22. Philadelphia Eagles

Marqise Lee

Marqise Lee - WR - USC

Height: 6'0 | Weight: 192 | Status: Junior

The team could use a cornerback and there are some that present good value at No. 22, but with DeSean Jackson now in Washington, the Eagles could look to draft his replacement in Marqise Lee.

23. Kansas City Chiefs

Derek Carr

Derek Carr - QB - Fresno State

Height: 6'2 | Weight: 214 | Status: Senior

Even with Teddy Bridgewater still on the board, I think the Chiefs look long and hard at Derek Carr. With Alex Smith still having plenty of football left, Kansas City needs a QB to sit and develop for at least a couple years and Carr seems to fit that profile nicely.

24. Cincinnati Bengals

Darqueze Dennard

Darqueze Dennard - CB - Michigan State

Height: 5'11 | Weight: 199 | Status: Senior

I'm of the opinion the Bengals give Andy Dalton more time before giving up on him, so a QB like Bridgewater is out of the question here. With no defensive ends presenting value No. 24, Cincinnati could certainly grab a CB like Dennard.

25. San Diego Chargers

Louis Nix III

Louis Nix III - NT - Notre Dame

Height: 6'2 | Weight: 331 | Status: Redshirt Junior

If one of the top three CBs is still on the board, or if the Chargers really like Bradley Roby, this is a tough decision. But with Nix still around, San Diego might be hard-pressed to let him go.

26. Cleveland Browns (via Indianapolis Colts)

Teddy Bridgewater

Teddy Bridgewater - QB - Louisville

Height: 6'2 | Weight: 214 | Status: Junior

With the Browns still in need of a QB, I think they beat the second round rush and finally end Bridgewater's slide.

27. New Orleans Saints

Bradley Roby

Bradley Roby - CB - Ohio State

Height: 5'11 | Weight: 194 | Status: Redshirt Junior

Champ Bailey will be a nice veteran presence for the Saints opposite Keenan Lewis. But he can't be relied upon any more these days and it would make some sense to draft an up-and-comer like Roby that could learn from the future Hall of Famer.

28. Carolina Panthers

Brandin Cooks

Brandin Cooks - WR - Oregon State

Height: 5'10 | Weight: 189 | Status: Junior

This pick will likely be a lineman or receiver. If Brandin Cooks is still on the board as he is here – and that's a fairly big if – the Panthers should grab him over the much riskier (health-wise) Kouandjio.

29. New England Patriots

Ra'Shede Hageman

Ra'Shede Hageman - DT - Minnesota

Height: 6'6 | Weight: 310 | Status: Redshirt Senior

I almost want to put a QB here and score the half-point when a team trades up for him. But if I'm mock drafting for need, a defensive lineman would make a lot of sense. Ra'Shede Hageman could be a good fit in New England.

30. San Francisco 49ers

Jordan Matthews

Jordan Matthews - WR - Vanderbilt

Height: 6'3 | Weight: 212 | Status: Senior

There's a lot of buzz that the 49ers are looking for a receiver – so much so that some draftniks have suggested San Francisco could trade up as high as the Top 5 to secure one. If they stand still, nabbing their favourite of the receivers with a Round 1-2 draft grade, like Jordan Matthews, would seem to make sense.

31. Denver Broncos

C.J. Mosley

C.J. Mosley - LB - Alabama

Height: 6'2 | Weight: 234 | Status: Senior

With C.J. Mosley in danger of falling out of the first round, the Broncos could make a good value pick and throw him into their linebacker corps, who could use a talented, young player. An offensive guard could make sense too, especially if Su'a-Filo drops.

32. Seattle Seahawks

David Yankey

David Yankey - OG - Stanford

Height: 6'6 | Weight: 313 | Status: Junior

If David Yankey falls past the Broncos, he'll still have one good shot to be taken in the first round and the Seahawks – whose biggest need (biggest being a relative term of course) may be at guard – would be a logical landing spot.
