Cincinnati, OH (Sports Network) - The Cincinnati Bengals on Monday placed kicker Mike Nugent and cornerback Morgan Trent on injured reserve, and also revealed that tackle Andre Smith faces surgery.
Nugent suffered a tear of the anterior cruciate ligament and a sprain of the medial collateral ligament in his right knee during an onside kick in the fourth quarter of Sunday's 23-17 loss to the Colts.
The 28-year-old has connected on 15-of-19 field goals this season but only hit one of his last three attempts over the last two contests, both Cincy losses. The six-year pro is a perfect 17-of-17 on extra points in nine games.
Trent, who was battling a knee injury and had been listed as questionable heading into Sunday's defeat, did not play. In eight games this year, the Michigan product posted 26 tackles and one interception.
Smith has a broken bone in his left foot. He had been limited in practice on Wednesday, did not participate on Thursday and Friday and was ruled out for Sunday's loss at Indianapolis.
In addition, the Bengals were able to obtain a one-week roster exemption for defensive end Antwan Odom after he finished serving his four-game suspension for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances.
