Scott Cullen has a look at fantasy waiver wire pickups heading into the first week of fantasy football playoffs.

Colin Kaepernick, San Francisco (vs. Dolphins) Anyone that is in their fantasy playoffs likely has their quarterback situation settled, but Kaepernick is owned in less than half of TSN leagues and while last week's performance against the Rams wasn't awe-inspiring, Kaepernick has averaged 17.0 fantasy points per game over his three starts, which would be enough to rank 10th among all quarterbacks on a per-game basis. Mix in a Dolphins team that ranks 27th against the pass and it's a reasonable expectation that Kaepernick will be productive this week.

Brandon Weeden, Cleveland (vs. Chiefs) Re-iterating, you probably have an option better than Weeden available to you if you have reached the fantasy playoffs, but Weeden is coming off a 364-yard passing game, the highest total of his rookie year and, while the Chiefs pass defence hasn't been downright terrible, they could be due for a letdown after last week's emotional game.

Others to consider - Jake Locker (at Colts), Nick Foles (at Buccaneers), Russell Wilson (vs. Cardinals)

James Starks, Green Bay (vs. Lions) It's not easy to trust the Green Bay running game, but Starks is playing a more significant role in the last month, rushing for more than 60 yards in three of the last four games. Match him up against a Detroit defence giving up 4.6 yards per carry and there is an opportunity for Starks to make his mark again this week.

Bryce Brown, Philadelphia (at Buccaneers) At this point, it's hard to believe Brown would be available in too many leagues, yet somehow he's still there for nearly one in three TSN leagues. Sure, going up against Tampa Bay's league-best run defence isn't an easy match-up, but with 347 rushing yards in two starts, it's hard to imagine there are too many candidates on the waiver wire with more immediate value than Brown.

Others to consider - Knowshon Moreno (at Raiders), Beanie Wells (at Seahawks), Jonathan Dwyer (vs. Chargers), Montell Owens (at Jets), Vick Ballard (vs. Titans)

Chris Givens (at Bills) In the last two weeks, Givens has 16 catches (on 20 targets) and 207 yards. Early in the season, he was the Rams' deep threat, catching a pass of at least 50 yards in five straight games, but now the rookie out of Wake Forest is becoming a more complete receiver and, with Danny Amendola out, the top target for Rams quarterback Sam Bradford.

Danario Alexander (at Steelers) - Facing Pittsburgh's pass defence is a brutal matchup, but Ike Taylor's injury could leave the Steelers vulnerable and Alexander has been prolific, catching 23 passes for 406 yards and three touchdowns in the last four weeks. He's still available in more than 70% of TSN leagues.

Others to consider - Donnie Avery/T.Y. Hilton (vs. Titans), Josh Gordon (vs. Chiefs), Kendall Wright (at Colts), Golden Tate (vs. Cardinals)

Brandon Myers (vs. Broncos) It's not as though Myers can count on a garbage time drive to the end zone, like last week's, on his way to a 14-catch, 130-yard game against Cleveland, but in his last five games he has 38 catches, 338 yards and four touchdowns. He's available in more than three-quarters of TSN leagues, yet ranks sixth among tight ends with 7.5 fantasy points per game, so if you have the need, Myers can provide some value.

Others to consider - Martellus Bennett (vs. Saints), Dallas clark (vs. Eagles), Dwayne Allen (vs. Ttians)
