TAMPA, Fla. -- Tampa Bay defensive end Adrian Clayborn will miss the rest of the season because of a right knee injury that will require surgery.
Buccaneers coach Greg Schiano made the announcement Monday, a day after Clayborn was hurt during the second half of a 16-10 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
Clayborn was the 20th overall pick in the 2011 draft. As a rookie, he started all 16 games and led the Bucs with 7 1/2 sacks.
The second-year pro had two tackles and no sacks in three games this season.
Clayborn was placed on injured reserve, and Schiano said the Bucs are weighing options for replacing him. Daniel Te'o-Nesheim and George Johnson are the team's backup defensive ends.
