BEREA, Ohio -- After throwing nine interceptions in his first five games, Browns rookie quarterback Brandon Weeden says his ego has been a problem.

Weeden knows he needs to be smarter with the football if the Browns (0-5) are going to snap their 11-game losing streak dating to last season. Weeden has thrown costly interceptions in Cleveland's past two games. Last Sunday, he threw a pick on a pivotal third-down play in the first half against the Giants, who turned a 14-point deficit into a 10-point halftime lead.

Weeden, who will turn 29 on Sunday, says he has to "get rid of the ego and take what they give me and not be as stubborn."

Browns coach Pat Shurmur was pleased to hear Weeden acknowledge his mistakes. He wants his quarterback to remain aggressive.
