ASHBURN, Va. -- Washington Redskins coach Mike Shanahan says Robert Griffin III will be the starter again once doctors say the rookie's sprained right knee has healed "100 per cent."

Shanahan said Monday that he hopes it's not too long before Griffin is cleared, but the coach gave no indication as to when he expects that to be.

Another rookie, Kirk Cousins, filled in for Griffin on Sunday and led a 38-21 win over the Cleveland Browns.

Shanahan said the performance won't tempt him to start Cousins again just to give Griffin extra time to rest the knee. Said Shanahan: "If the doctor gives his OK, he's going to play."

The Redskins are 8-6, tied for first in the NFC East. They visit the Philadelphia Eagles this week.
