RENTON, Wash. -- Seahawks wide receiver Percy Harvin will get a second opinion on his sore hip next week in New York, and Seattle coach Pete Carroll said Saturday all options remain for how the injury is handled.

Speaking after practice, Carroll said the range for treatment is still unknown. He said Harvin could be back on the field in a couple of weeks, or surgery may be the solution to solve the discomfort in the area around Harvin's hip socket.

"There is a whole array of situations that could occur. We have to wait and see. It's everything that he might be able to come back here in a couple of weeks and be ready to go, there may be some procedures that need to take place and there are a number of different ways that can happen and the lengths of the recovery depend on what has to take place," Carroll said.

"It's uncertain right now, but for sure we're going to take our time, be very patient and let the docs get a good look at it and make sure everyone has their two cents on it and we know exactly where it sits and see what the next step holds and we don't know that right now."

Harvin's exam is expected to be Tuesday. Carroll has not indicated which hip is bothering the wide receiver and when asked if surgery would be season ending, said, "That's a possibility but we're hoping it's not the probability. We're thinking it's going to be better than that."

Harvin reported for training camp earlier this week and complained of a sore hip, prompting team doctors to take a look. He had sat out during minicamp in June with what Carroll said was a hip flexor problem, but Harvin was reported to have been participating at full speed at the team's facility just a week ago.

Carroll also said that Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor played through similar discomfort in his hip in the past.

"Kam Chancellor made it through and he's OK," Carroll said. "So we know that there's a chance that it could be all right. So we just have to keep our fingers crossed. We're pretty optimistically minded around here. And we'll try to take as much time as we need to make a really good decision to take care of him in the best way possible."

The injury news for the Seahawks didn't stop with Harvin. Seattle fullback Michael also missed a second straight day of practice on Saturday with a sore ankle. Carroll said Robinson came in after the first day of practice saying it was sore, but not a sprain. Rookie defensive tackle Jesse Williams had a sore knee and special teams standout Heath Farwell missed his second straight practice with back spasms.

Carroll added that tight end Zach Miller could return soon from a sore foot. Miller injured the foot on the final day of OTAs in June and is being brought back slowly.

"We have to get him on the ground running and make sure he's in good enough shape before we break him in full speed running" Carroll said.
