FLORHAM PARK, N.J. - Rex Ryan says there's "no question" he believes he's still the right man to be coach of the New York Jets beyond this season.

Ryan says Monday he and general manager John Idzik have a "tremendous" working relationship, and adds he thinks the Jets (6-8) are going in the right direction despite clinching their third straight non-winning season.

Ryan's job status was uncertain after New York went 6-10 last year, but owner Woody Johnson opted to bring him back while he fired GM Mike Tannenbaum. Ryan, who was hired in 2009, is signed through next season.

Guard Willie Colon, in his first year with the Jets, says he loves his coach and it would be "a step back" for the team if he is fired after the season.
