WASHINGTON -- Jay Gruden completed his interview for the Washington Redskins' coaching job Wednesday, making the Cincinnati Bengals' offensive co-ordinator the sixth known candidate to meet with general manager Bruce Allen.

The team confirmed that Gruden met with Allen at Redskins Park.

Gruden has ties with several people within the Redskins' organization. He worked under Allen as an assistant coach with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and with defensive co-ordinator Jim Haslett in the UFL. Haslett was retained when Mike Shanahan was fired last week after a 3-13 season, although the new head coach will decide whether Haslett stays or goes.

Gruden, the brother of former NFL head coach Jon Gruden, has drawn interest from at least three other teams seeking to fill a head coaching vacancy. He interviewed with the Tennessee Titans on Tuesday.

Up next on Allen's list is expected to be Vanderbilt coach James Franklin, the only college coach who has been publicly named as a candidate. Franklin also has been courted by Penn State and other NFL teams.

Allen has previously met with Seattle Seahawks offensive co-ordinator Darrell Bevell, Dallas Cowboys special teams coach Rich Bisaccia, Carolina Panthers defensive co-ordinator Sean McDermott, Baltimore Ravens offensive co-ordinator Jim Caldwell and New York Giants defensive co-ordinator Perry Fewell.
