Perhaps tired of being kept in the dark, New Orleans Saints RB Darren Sproles wants to be released.

There were reports Sproles would be released last week before the Saints apparently had a change of heart and decided they would try and trade him, a fact the running back found out about on Twitter.

Now Sproles is asking for his release, according to a report from ESPN, although he knows it's unlikely to happen.

The 30-year-old still has one year left on his contract at $3.5 million.

Sproles has spent the past three seasons with the Saints after starting his career with the San Diego Chargers.
