New York Islanders
The Islanders signed former University of Minnesota defenceman Jake Birschoff to a two-year entry-level contract.
According to Newsday's Arthur Staple, the Islanders have also signed Matt Gaudreau to amateur tryout contract. Gaudreau is the younger brother of Calgary Flames star Johnny Gaudreau. He scored eight goals and added 27 assists in 40 games with Boston College this season.
Vancouver Canucks
Jacob Markstrom (lower-body), originally injured in the team's skills competition, could be shut down for the year, head coach Willie Desjardins said. He last played on Feb. 16.
Brock Boeser will make his home debut tonight after scoring in his first game over the weekend.
Troy Stecher is better than they thought he would be and there is a chance he plays Friday. Loui Eriksson could also return on Friday. - TSN's Farhan Lalji.

The Canadiens recalled goaltender Zach Fucale on an emergency basis to serve as Price's backup Tuesday. Fucale has been playing with Brampton in the ECHL.

Steve Conroy of the Boston Herald reports that Boston Bruins' goaltender Tuukka Rask (upper body) was on the ice for the team's optional morning skate, which indicates he will get the start Tuesday night against the Nashville Predators.
The Boston Globe's Fluto Shinzawa reports that David Krejci (upper body) will be a game-time decision against the Predators.

Forward Zack Smith is under the weather, meaning the team may opt to play the Philadelphia Flyers with 11 forwards and seven defencemen. Deadline day addition Jyrki Jokipakka will serve as the seventh defenceman if Smith is out. - Ottawa Sun.

According to TSN's Kristen Shilton, goaltender Frederik Andersen (upper body) went through his usual drills with goaltender coach Steve Brier prior to the Leafs' morning skate, however he will not play tonight. The team is going with a three goalie system of Andersen, Curtis McElhinney and Garret Sparks in practice.
Andersen said after practice he's unsure if he'll return against the Nashville Predators on Thursday, but felt "pretty good" today.

The Hurricanes announced they have recalled goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic from the Florida Everblades of the ECHL on an emergency basis for the injured Eddie Lack. Lack was diagnosed with a strained neck after being crashed into by the Detroit Red Wings' forward Andreas Athanasiou in overtime on Monday night.
