According to TSN Radio Montreal 690's Amanda Stein, Montreal Canadiens' goaltender Carey Price will not participate in the world hockey championship. The 29-year-old went 36-20-5 with a 2.23 GAA and .923 save percentage with three shutouts en route to being nominated for the Vezina Trophy. Price started for Canada at the World Cup of Hockey this past September.

According to TSN's John Lu, Montreal Canadiens defenceman Shea Weber will not participate in the world hockey championship. Weber had 17 goals and added 25 assists in 78 regular season games in his first season with the Canadiens. The 31-year-old had one goal and two assists against the New York Rangers in the playoffs.


Russia

According to Lu, KHL Insider Aivis Kalnins reports that Canadiens' forward Alexander Radulov will not participate in the world ockey championship due to the absence of a contract for next season. Radulov had a productive season in his return to the NHL after four seasons in the KHL with 18 goals and 36 assists in 76 games during the regular season and two goals and five assists in the Canadiens' first round playoff loss to the Rangers.

Lu also reports Kalnins says the Russian Hockey Federation stated that Toronto Maple Leafs' rookie defenceman Nikita Zaitsev will also not play in the world hockey championship after sustaining a concussion in the Leafs' first round playoff series with the Washington Capitals. The 25-year-old had four goals and 32 assists for the Maple Leafs in 82 games played in the regular season.

Defenceman Andrei Markov all will also not play in the tournament in Cologne, Germany and Paris France.


According to Lu, Canadiens' forward Tomas Plekanec has been asked to play for the Czech Republic, but has yet to decide.

Canadiens' rookie winger Artturi Lehkonen has also been asked by Finland to join the team, but hasn't made a decision. The 21-year-old had a breakout playoff run for the Habs with two goals and two assists in six games and 18 goals and 10 assists in 73 regular season games.

Lu says Canadiens' forward Alex Galchenyuk hasn't been asked by USA to play for the national team at the worlds.
