McGuire's Monster Performers

Monster Player of the Year

They are hard charging. They are abrasive. They are fearless. They are equal parts perspiration and inspiration. They are the consummate team player.

They are Pierre McGuire's Monsters!

And Alexander Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals is Pierre McGuire's Monster Player of the Year for the 2007-2008 season.

Everyone knows about Ovechkin's offensive ability - he led the league in points and goals, setting a record for goals by a left-winger. But there is more to his game than scoring goals.

He hits hard. He skates hard. Ovechkin plays with heart-felt passion, and his pure joy for the game is infectious.

There are other players who fit that description, but no one did it better this season than Ovechkin.
