From TSN: The 6-foot-7 defenceman's performance has yet to come close to his potential, but he skates so well and shows flashes of being something special both offensively and defensively that teams are wondering if he might not be a late bloomer who is going to be every bit as good as Doughty, Bogosian, Pietranagelo and Schenn. But his play is erratic enough to likely ensure he won't be taken as highly as those blue chippers. And while, at No. 11, he's a candidate who could easily jump up into the top 10, there's as much reason to believe he could go for a bit of a skid beyond 11, too.
From NHL Central Scouting: His height differentiates him from the rest of the draft-eligible defencemen - he towers above all the other players. He is not often burned by the small, quick players and because of the emphasis in today's NHL on a lack of restraining type of play, Tyler has adjusted well to that and is more ready to play in the new NHL than a lot of the other smaller players. He's got a rocket shot from the point on the power-play .

From TSN: Regarded as a skilled playmaker, the Windsor Spitfire centre is a good, solid two-way player who is conscientious in his effort at all times although scouts would like to see a little more grit to his game.
From NHL Central Scouting: Josh is the quarterback on the power-play, from down low, for the Windsor Spitfires. He is a good play-making centerman with the ability to feed his linemates when he needs to and shoot the puck when the play requires that.

Comparable: Shea Weber
From TSN: The hard-rock defenceman, who draws comparisons to Shea Weber and Adam Foote, is as competitive and feisty a player as there is in this draft. What he lacks in offensive upside, he makes up for with his ferocity and defensive prowess. He relishes the opportunity to go head-to-head with the other teams' top players. By all accounts, there is no love lost between him and Kyle Beach.
From NHL Central Scouting: Colten is a smooth skating defenseman, who can skate the puck out of trouble and can jump up the ice with the puck. Has the ability to take charge of the game.

From TSN: A diminutive but highly athletic offensive minded forward with explosive acceleration, Boychuk could slide a little because of the size factor but it's hard to believe that slide could be too far.
From NHL Central Scouting: Zach is a skilled, see the ice type forward. He quarterbacks the power-play and might be the best two-step quickness guy in all of junior hockey. In two steps he is at top speed and he can hit the brakes and delay the play with the best of them as well.

From TSN: No one questions whether there's a high end to this defenceman's game, but Del Zotto has yet to put it all together to the satisfaction of the scouts who have been left wanting more. That said, if he were taken higher than 15, it wouldn't be a huge surprise, because he has great offensive potential. But it would not be a shock either if he slipped a little. Scouts believe there's an immaturity to his game, that he's been negatively affected by the (rightful) perception that his stock has dipped over the last two years. Back then, it was assumed Del Zotto would be in the same class as Doughty, Bogosian, Pietrangelo and Schenn but a gap has developed between them and him and the sense is he's been bothered by that and is still working through it.
From NHL Central Scouting: He is the new breed offensive defenseman who jumps up into the rush effectively; he either follows up a rush to add a second dimension or there are times that he is capable of leading the rush himself. As an offensive defenseman, he is prototypical. He needs to improve on the defensive coverage side of the game.

From TSN: The Ottawa 67 is a strong two-way defenceman with leadership ability and a willingness to compete hard at both ends of the ice.
From NHL Central Scouting: Really adept at knowing when to pass the puck out of the zone or to put the wheels on and carry the puck out of the zone. He helps the Ottawa 67's power-play from the point and is really reliable. Equally adept at the defensive game.

From TSN: Played better in Lethbridge with the Hurricanes than he did for Switzerland in international competition, there's no question his decision to play in the CHL will benefit his draft status. He's a solid two-way defender who averaged a point a game in the WHL playoffs.
From NHL Central Scouting: Luca is a poised and, sometimes, too poised a defenceman. One would say that a lot of times his calmness with the puck is misinterpreted as either slowness or laziness; that's not the case with Luca. He is a smart player who moves the puck at the right time and carries the puck correctly, supports the rush and is adjusting very well to the North American game.

From TSN: Some call him a clone of Carey Price because the two used to be teammates in Tri-City. Unquestionably, there are similarities in terms of their size, style and calm under fire demeanor. Rated as a leading contender to be Canada's No. 1 goalie at the upcoming World Juniors, Pickard is considered the clear No. 1 choice as this year's top goaltender in the draft. Some scouts also think he resembles another former Tri-City goalie, Olaf Kolzig, who is now a part-owner of the team.
From NHL Central Scouting: Number one he is very confident. He is very strong in his crease and he isn't predictable. His net coverage is very good and he reads the play well. He is very consistent which is a big positive for him. He is able to put any bad goals behind him; he doesn't let anything bother him yet he is very competitive.

From TSN: The big playmaking centre from the Jr. A Camrose Kodiaks bears an uncanny resemblance to Joe Thornton on and off the ice, but is something of a draft wild card. His size and playmaking ability could push him into the top 15 of the draft, but his game is still so raw and unpolished that he could go for a slide. Colborne is also fighting a reputation as one of the softer players in this draft. Clearly, a project, but with some excellent assets.
From NHL Central Scouting: Very rangy with his stick; he dishes the puck well and has really good on-ice awareness. If he can get his skating a little more energetic, he'll be a big strong player down the middle. When he is at his best he is a strategic player.

From TSN: Some teams think this Swedish defenceman with great mobility and puck skills is a late-emerging sleeper pick who could be had late in the first round or early second. Good luck. The secret is out – the Detroit Red Wings won the Stanley Cup on the strength of mobile puck movers who can contribute at both ends of the ice and that describes Karlsson. Don't be surprised if someone jumps in on Karlsson even earlier than 20.
From NHL Central Scouting: Erik is excellent on the power-play; he makes smart passes and has great vision. He plays the game with confidence, has a natural hockey sense and is a consistent offensive threat. He compensates for his lack of strength and size with his mobility, passing and vision and is at his best as an offensive d-man. Overall, he needs more weight and strength in order to be more effective in front of his own net.
