From TSN: The Minnesotan is considered one of the fastest skaters in the draft and that's a quality the scouts look for in today's game. One team, for example, has him rated in their top 10 prospects, so the chances of being selected much higher than 21 definitely exist. But persistent questions about the extent of his hockey sense – one scout said his brain doesn't work quite as fast as his feet – also suggest he could tumble to the lower part of the first round.

From NHL Central Scouting: Jake's biggest attribute is that he might be one of the best skaters in the draft – he is just a pure skater. He is smart with the puck, unselfish and he's careful. He's a greyhound right now, wiry, but he'll fill out.

From TSN: A big, strong, hard-shooting, hard-skating defenceman who will be playing with the London Knights next season.

From NHL Central Scouting: He runs the power-play from the top of the umbrella and he has a very heavy shot. He's a very self-assured kid and rightfully so -- he's a boy, yet in a man's body and very physically strong. He had all the tools – size, skill, physical presence and charisma.

From TSN: The Swedish netminder is a big, strong, athletic stopper who was outstanding last summer in the U-18 tourney. While he hasn't reached the level he hit last summer, he shows more than enough promise to be considered a first-rounder.

From NHL Central Scouting: Jacob covers the net well and plays with a lot of confidence. He plays the butterfly, but sometimes has a tendency to go down too quickly. He has an impressive, quick glove and he uses his size to his advantage.

From TSN: It was an up and down year for the Guelph Storm goalie, but the young American finished much stronger than he started and should be considered a solid bet to be taken in the first round. If not, it won't be long into the second round before he's chosen.

From NHL Central Scouting: Number one attribute is his net position, it's second to none, there are rarely any holes and he has a great butterfly. When he is challenging and at the top of his game he is very tough to beat.

From TSN: The Chicoutimi centre plays a strong pro-like game, consistent and responsible in his approach. While he didn't post huge offensive numbers, he's regarded as a solid offensive prospect and he did lead all QMJHL rookies in scoring. He's diligent without the puck and only needs to get physically stronger to excel in that role. The book on Deschamps is that he's a relatively late bloomer who could be a first-round steal.

From NHL Central Scouting: He is a very good skater who thinks the game well and has soft hands. He works hard and the up side to his skills makes us think he is going to be a pretty good all-round player. He was one of those players that kept improving to surprise a lot of people because the expectations for him were low at the beginning of the season.

26. MATTIAS TEDENBY

ISS: 14
RLR: 12
McK: 23
THN: 16
Comparable: Mats Naslund

From TSN: The diminutive Swedish winger is amongst the most competitive and skilled players available in this draft, but his lack of size is likely going to discount him in this draft. What he lacks in size, he makes up for with confidence, on and off the ice. He has an extra gear, which is essential for small guys looking to succeed in the NHL, and doesn't take a backward step in the mold of a Mats Naslund or Marty St. Louis. Could fall to the second round because of size issues, but if a team really likes him and is willing to look past the height, he could go much higher than ranked.

From NHL Central Scouting: Mattias is excellent on every shift. He has outstanding speed, stick work and work ethic. He is small but fearless - he takes hits and always comes back. He creates scoring chances with his outstanding skating and is very difficult to stop when he is at full speed. He has excellent balance and quick, smooth hands, but needs to improve on his defensive awareness.

Comparable: John LeClair

From TSN: A big, diligent forward with an NHL-calibre shot who protects the puck well and understands the game. But he needs to pick up his skating, add a little more energy to his game. That could mean a fall into the second round, but then they were saying all the same things about Shawn Matthias a couple of years ago.

From NHL Central Scouting: Greg is a big player that goes to the net, he's not overly physical but he doesn't get knocked around either. He is good on the power-play, in the sense that he sets himself at the front of the net, he's hard to move and he bangs in a lot of rebounds from there.

28. COLBY ROBAK

THN: 18
Comparable: Joni Pitkanen

From TSN: The Brandon Wheat King defenceman has pro size and speed and skills but hasn't put them together to the satisfaction of the scouts. As a result, he finds himself as a first-round possibility -– certainly lots of potential -- but one who could easily slip into the second round amidst concerns that he's soft and won't be able to battle at the pro level unless he finds another level.

From NHL Central Scouting: Robak is a smooth skating defenseman with the keen ability to skate the puck out of danger. He goes in to scrums, comes up with the puck and almost effortlessly skates it up ice; combine that with a shrewd ability to look up-ice, head-man the puck and then join the rush from behind.

29. JORDAN EBERLE

RLR: 22

From TSN: A somewhat under-sized centre, Eberle is considered one of the smartest offensive players in the draft. He is a better goal-scorer than a playmaker and is an elusive talent when he has the puck. There are some questions about his speed, but he does have quickness, especially in tight situations and one-on-ones.

From NHL Central Scouting: Jordan is a slippery scorer with great hands. Jordan is an up-and-down the wing tease in the sense that sometimes he'll look like he's just going up and down the wing and you have him slotted as a checker and then he'll cut in off the wing and use that shot to put his team up a goal.

30. ANTON GUSTAFSSON

RANKINGS

CSB: 5 ES
ISS: 34
RLR: 44
McK: 44
THN: 24
Comparable: Jordan Staal

From TSN: If an NHL team is convinced the son of ex-NHLer Bengt Gustafsson is healthy, he could easily go much higher in the first round than No. 30. But the Swedish centre had significant lower back issues and his health status was a primary concern of NHL teams at the Central Scouting Combine. Those concerns could cause his stock to drop radically, but teams were doing a lot of homework on him to be sure. His X-rays and MRIs will tell as much about when he's drafted as his on-ice performance.

From NHL Central Scouting: Anton is a highly skilled player with strong puckhandling skills and playmaking ability. He's a tall, strong and talented two-way center with good vision and a fine understanding of the game. He plays a mature game.
